Undergraduate Students
Student Academic Affairs Students can choose from among 13 undergraduate majors, many of which have "tracks" or "options" focusing on particular topics within the disciplines that are of great interest to students. A noteworthy distinction of the College is the opportunity it gives to many undergraduates to do research with a faculty mentor. This practical experience helps students focus their area of study and gain a greater understanding of the scientific process.

Aiding students in excelling in their studies and completing their degrees is a primary goal of the College. To meet this objective, CNAS offers academic advising through its Student Academic Affairs Office, as well as through centers dedicated to the Biological Sciences and Health Professions. Faculty advisors, student affairs counselors and assistants, and an associate deans help students in choosing a major and selecting courses to progress toward a degree; provide information regarding registration processes and graduation and degree requirements; assist with extended absences or other special requests; inform students about scholarships and unique training opportunities; and steer students toward tutoring or other learning resources should they encounter difficulties in their studies. Students who have declared a major are advised by departmental faculty advisors or the Biological Sciences Undergraduate Advising Center, while undeclared students receive advising from CNAS Student Academic Affairs. Undergraduate students interested in pursuing graduate studies and careers in the health sciences are assisted by the CNAS Health Professions Advising Services. The CaTEACH-SMI Resource Center is available to assist students interested in planning science or mathematics teaching careers.
